Augh!! I did not want to come back! ...ok, let me start from the beginning. This last week I went to Lake Havasu with DarthFrodo and FenIca, my two best friends. DarthFrodo had gone last year, with very positive results, and this was FenIca's first trip. (Again, there were very positive results) THis year we went without my family, which in my opinion made the trip as fun as it was.
For those of you out there who aren't aware, there is a mood my family has created for vacations. It is called the Lake Philosophy. This state of mind sadly doesn't work in the real world, but it's perfect for vacations. The basic concept is this. Once you're there, do whatever you want so long as it causes no harm to others around you. For example, if you wanted to eat ice cream for breakfast, you could. Why? Because you're on Vacation. If you didn't want to get dressed until three in the afternoon, you didn't have to. WHy? Because you are on Vacation.
Now with family this is slightly restricted, since it's my mom's inherent nature to nag and bug me to get up and do stuff. Last year's trip with DarthFrodo sadly went this way, so she couldn't experience the absolute awesomeness that is the true Lake Philosophy. This year was different. This year it was just me, DarthFrodo, and FenIca. No parents, no siblings, no one but us. And that rocked!
Here's a brief summery on what we did, since I'm positive that both DarthFrodo and FenIca will be posting on their pages soon with their accounts. The first day was amusing, since it was mostly driving and chating. We got up and were on the road after just a slight delay with packing my car in. (Sorry FenIca, you got squished in the back with all the stuff that wouldn't fit in my trunk.) We ate sugar to keep us from drowning in the brown and drab scenery that is the Arizona landscape once you get out there where no one in their right mind would live. Things went really smoothly, and we got there with lots of time to spare. (Left at 9, got there around noon.) Of course we had to dive into the lake, which rocked! Last year it was clear as glass, and this year was even clearer. I had never before seen that deeply before, and I've been going to the Lake since before I could walk. It wasn't even that cold, so that was a bonus, since last year me and DarthFrodo nearly froze trying to swim. We got the golf cart out, which was an adventure. It was sandwiched between the boat and the Bronco for security reasons. Now this Bronco is even older than I am (21) No A/C, no radio, and it's a miricle if it starts on the first try. And it's stick. Now I know how to use stick, since my dad made sure I could at least get into 2nd gear without ruining an engine. But that's on a well mantained newer car, not one that's been baking in the sun for longer than I've been alive. It took me four tries to start it up, and then I stalled it out four times as well. We finally just stuck the dumb thing in netrual and pushed it back enough to get the golf cart out. THen the key stuck. I swear, I cursed the living daylights out of that stupid thing, and to this day I can't remember how we finally managed to get it free. after that, we ate yummy foods, and watched Heros, which is one of the new obsessions of my life. (I have to find out what happens next!!) All in all a rather good start to the week of awesomeness.
The next day was awesome. We got up early, because the sun can be annoying as sin in the morning. Pancakes were served, and yummy bacon. (the inner carnivore in me was drooling at the smell of the sizzling bacon.) Today was the London Bridge trip, where we got to act like total tourists in our own state! Sadly, the area around the London Bridge is slowly declining due to the failing ecomony. There weren't nearly as many open shops or attractions as there's been in the past. We got real Hawaiian shaved ice, with real vanilla ice cream at the bottom. We took lots of touristy pictures, which DarthFrodo has since I was horrible and didn't bother with the camera. I ate at In and Out for the first time, and have to say I will never eat at another burger joint ever again. It was that amazing. Bought some really cool earings, and some smell good soy candle beads. Spent the rest of the day chillin' at the trailer, just chating and watching tv. Oh, and sorting beads. We were sorting my poor messed up beads the whole week. Which was a huge help since I'm thinking of selling necklaces and bracelets to earn some extra money during the school year.
The third day had to be the best. We didn't actually get dressed until three in the afternoon, and we spent the morning watching FenIca playing Twilight Princess. (She rocks at that game. She finished the entire thing in the three days she played it! I will be the first to bow down to her awesomeness when it comes to that, since I can't beat a game to save my life.) We did go out to the lake for a bit, and I used goggles to dive down and see some of the lake bottom that I had never been able to see before. It was very pretty, all cool greens and dark blues. (I wished I had thought to buy a waterproof camera along, but there's always next year.) Ate all day long, chowing down on enchiladas and sugary snacks for the yummies.
The last day was bittersweet, since we had to clean up and get out before it got too dark. Granted, we didn't actually leave until 8ish, but we were all sad that we had to pack it up and leave. The dishwasher attacked us, spitting and spewing bubbles like the Blob from that really old horror movie. (Still not sure what happened, but oh well, I'll just wash dishes by hand next time rather than anger that appliance again) Cursed out the Bronco again, because it held onto the key with a death grip again when we parked the golf cart back where it was supposed to be. (Again, still not sure how we managed to get the key out) Cleaned up, vacumed, all that jazz, and got out of there. Very sad, since I knew it would be at least another year before I could come out here again. *cries* The drive back was interesting, since I'm horribly night blind and there weren't any lights until we hit the Pheniox city limits. As soon as we got radio signel, we heard that Micheal Jackson had died! What the heck! I figured that man/woman...whatever he/she was at the time of death, was so plastic that death was no longer a concern. (Although I did love his earlier work, like when he was in the Jackson 5 and when he was still black.) At the time of his death, he was one of the creepiest men I had ever seen. It was a very interesting end to the perfect relaxing week.
Stay tuned for the accounts from DarthFrodo and FenIca.
i was logging into DA and i saw your trapped picture and thought it was totally adolrable and... went to your page...read you devious info...saw your favorite cartoon character was Brooklyn from Gargoyles... AND thought that was odd because mine is demona.
SO, finding that to be a very strange development in my day i thought i should tell you.
I'm Gaby by the way.
